Mal im Ernst, Bundeshorst!

 

Vor ein paar Tagen sagte mein Freund, der Bundeshorst, der für diese Partei mit dem "C" arbeitet, etwas wirklich Spannendes:

Er sehe "klare Verrohungstendenzen in unserem Lande", nun da die Anzahl der rechtsextremistischen Straftaten erneut gestiegen sei. Klar sei, dass "der Trend der vergangenen Jahre sich verfestigt".

Wow.

Wer hat denn diesen Trend 2015 verbal mit eingepflanzt und ordentlich Dünger draufgekippt? Wessen ("christliche") Partei hat denn gegen "Asyltourismus" gewettert, um braune Stimmen im Bayernland abzufischen? Und wessen Bestreben ist es noch heute, fliehende Menschen auf ihren zerbrechlichen Kähnen zurückzuschicken in ihre Heimat, in der nix mehr geht? Was ist das denn für ein Trend?

I'm content with the perspective, even though some of the people seem more to lie around than to really stand upright. But: FACES!

I hate faces. They are the reason I stopped this little comic panel project. Honestly, let me return to architecture and shadows. And kudos to all of you who know how to draw faces. Faces...

Dad, what's above us?

Above? The birds. The wind. Clouds. The sun and the moon. Eternity.

And Dad, what's below us?

Below? Nothing.

... which proved entirely wrong when the PCs entered the Roman underworld, hunted by a huge bug-like tank creature and its insectoid drones. There was plenty of fighting and riddling and some new faces down there (Italian archeologists, an 800 year old Pope and a German Engineer, plus a massive golem of about 300 ft height), and even an Atlantean Stone (the Stone of Life) to be found...

Just some quick sketches illustrating key scenes. Plus Mr Olav Ingström, being the third adventurer to get there, arriving at Shagashara's tomb in his sky vessel "Falk II". He was the one to explore the jackal king's dungeons and draw precise maps of them. Unfortunately, the spectacular events at the Atlantean Congress overshadowed the merits of his discovery...

I started to think about light and shadow last week, and then I took my new Faber Castell Artist Pens and started drawing. This is the first part of the result.

Honestly, I don't know where these impressions come from - the only thing I know is that they remind me of Moebius comics. My brother collected some of them back in the late 90s, but I wasn't capable of understanding what they were about (is anyone, anyway?).

So maybe this is some sort of weak echo. Or an hommage. It's Revisiting Atlantis M - let's see where the journey takes us...
